Azure Window was one of famous places in the world to visit which appeared in many international movies and media productions. It was the object of travel ads promoting to visit Gozo island – the part of Malta.
Travelers, who travel to Malta, usually come to see Gozo island also. The journey to this island takes less than an hour by ferry. However, depending on the means of transport you are planning to use and the number of places you would like to visit, one day might be not enough to see all your planned objects in Gozo.
Sadly, Azure Window collapsed in March 2017. The memories of this natural arch are left only in photos. Luckily, it is still worth to visit this place, called Dwejra, for many other reasons. If it is windy, you will be amazed by huge waves breaking on rocks. If it is calm weather, you will be able to bathe in the pools of rocks “blue hole” or dive in the sea. There are some paths to have a short hike with spectacular views to the rocks and the sea for the hikers at Dwejra also.
What is more, Gozo has other worth visiting places, such as the biggest city in the island Victoria with its Cathedral and museums, Ġgantija Temples included into the UNESCO World Heritage List etc. For sun bathing lovers Marsalfon beach is on the list too.
The only way to reach Gozo is through Malta. The fastest way – to fly to Malta International Airport and then to go by bus, taxi or rented car to Ċirkewwa and pass the sea with a ferry to Gozo. As Malta airport is not very busy, there are quite little flight delays, however, if you had a more than 3 hours delay due to delayed, cancelled or overbooked flight, you may check your compensation amount in our Flight Delay Compensation Calculator and claim for your rights.
